I
Creativity is collecting and connecting ideas. To create more value, develop a system to collect ideas that sparks your curiosity.
Collecting ideas is only powerful when you combine it with a practice of creating. Consistently create and you will grow in your ability to think for yourself, combining disparate information.
Collect ideas to remember. Create to truly think for yourself.
II
Knowledge is like a seed. A seed is useless unless it grows into a tree. Knowledge is useless unless it grows into applied truth. The purpose of learning is to take meaningful action. Without applying knowledge by taking action you will never bear fruit.
III
Give everything in your home a place where it belongs.
Quotes
"Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while."
Steve Jobs, from the 1996 PBS documentary "Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires."
"Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom."
Charles Spurgeon, in The Quotable Spurgeon
Questions
What physical home can I give every object in my home?
Do the things I have add meaning, beauty, or joy to my life? If not, simplify.
Wisdom is durable. It’s secure and lasts. What wisdom are you growing in this week?
(Use these questions as a journal prompt and to guide your prayers this week)
Endnote
Think of yourself not just as a learner of wisdom but as a giver of wisdom. Give your future self the gift of wisdom by taking action on seeds of knowledge today.
Live wisely,
Josh
